Notebook Prompts

There are many days when I find myself staring at a blank notebook page without a clue of what to create. Our minds need a little push sometimes to get going. Here are a few prompts for you.

  1. Choose a color and fill your page with magazine cut-outs in that color. Doodle or sketch using that color with any art supplies.

  2. Fill your page with thumbnail sketches for practice. Fill your page with a large sketch. Sketch anything in your surroundings.

  3. Write, sketch, and take photos to document your day. A simple list of what you did, where you went, and who you talked to. Take a few pics from your daily routine. Sketch your day.

  4. Find a poem you like and glue it on some pretty paper. Put that into your notebook.

  5. Find 3-5 magazine cut-outs and create a simple collage.

  6. Take a page from an old book and glue it into your notebook. Draw something over the text and add color. Find a sentence or words from within your text to title your piece. Highlight your title.

  7. Go online to Pinterest or Instagram and find a creative exercise to try in your notebook.

  8. Date your notebook pages using colorful lettering.

  9. Write out a favorite quote or literary excerpt. Get creative with letters, size, shapes, and colors.

  10. Go on a photo walkabout in your neighborhood or town. Print and glue your pics in your notebook.

  11. Meet a friend for coffee and bring your notebook to sketch in.

  12. Include daily gratitude in your notebook.

  13. Write at least one sentence in your notebook every day.

  14. Write down your ideas. Take notes. If something resonates with you, write it in your notebook. Write a lousy poem. Doodle while you talk on the phone.

  15. Be inspired by the world around you!

Act boldly, and unseen forces will come to your aid.
